Youtube is an awesome place to learn and create. Youtube is making it easier for content creators to find the right music for their projects by hosting a library royalty free music! You can get everything from the classics, to instrumental chill pop music that will be sure to set the vibe. All you need to get started is a YouTube studio account which any gmail user is just two clicks away from. You can then browse through their library of awesome tracks and download your favorites. You can also filter by genre, or by mood to find the perfect track. I find it easiest to drill down to the song I want by picking a sound close to what I’m going for, then browsing the same category, mood, or genre. Soundcloud is a popular free music hosting service that up and coming musicians will use to gain a following. A lot of the time these creators are happy to be featured creatively in any videos as this will allow them more exposure to their music. Reaching out to an artist that you enjoy could yield access to a unique sound and interesting sound. If your video is popular you may help get the word out about your favourite artist!

Similarly to Soundcloud, Instagram is another popular platform where a lot of original music is shared. You can typically browse the explore page to find interesting sounds or clips of original music. Original music is usually tagged as being so via popular hashtags such as #originalmusic #improvisation #backingtrack, and all it takes is a quick direct message to the owner of the track to start a conversation and help each other out!
